Green Deal – The Existing Homes Alliance recommendations for a successful programme and motivating consumers to take it up

The Existing Homes Alliance has issued a report to Government outline crucial detail and recommendations it considers to be crucial for the delivery of a successful carbon reduction policy.

The Green Deal has the potential to offer a huge opportunity for retrofitting existing housing but we have one chance to get it right!

Our steering group members have therefore worked with other key organisations to offer advice to Government for:

  • Financing deep, low carbon retrofit;
  • Considering the cost of refurbishing an existing home to the required standard;
  • How the retrofit is delivered;
  • How we communicate to householders and the tools and resources required;
  • How we achieve and maintain quality of work and advice; and
  • What incentives and legislation may be required to drive householders to act.
